Researchers in South Korea (Incheon National University, led by Prof. Joondong Kim, building on work also seen at UNIST) have developed transparent solar cells that look like ordinary glass but quietly convert light into electricity. The trick: a heterojunction of titanium dioxide and nickel oxide that absorbs ultraviolet light while letting visible light pass through, keeping the glass see-through.
