This n8n automation workflow, titled "EGN - Audio Message Transcription", provides a complete, hands-free system for processing, transcribing, summarizing, and archiving audio content received through Telegram.
1. Ingestion & Validation
The workflow begins with a scheduled trigger that routinely polls the Telegram API for new updates while maintaining state through offset management nodes (Process Updates & Save Offset and Get Last Offset). Incoming updates are routed through an IF node (Is Audio or Voice?) that inspects the payload. If the message contains no audio or voice content, it routes to a fallback node (Reply - Not Audio) that alerts the user.
2. Audio Processing & Speech-to-Text
When a valid audio file is detected, the workflow extracts its metadata (Extract File Info) and downloads the file binary from Telegram (Download Audio from Telegram). It then forwards this file to the Groq Whisper API (Transcribe with Groq Whisper), which performs fast, highly accurate speech-to-text conversion. The raw text output is stored in memory (Store Raw Transcript) for downstream steps.
3. AI Formatting & Summarization
To transform raw transcriptions into structured content, the text undergoes a two-step AI enhancement phase. First, an API request sent via Groq cleans and formats the raw text into readable prose (Format Transcript with AI and Store Formatted Transcript). Second, the system constructs custom summary prompts (Build Summary Prompts) and queries Groq again (Summarize with Groq) to generate a concise summary (Store Summary).
4. Document Generation & Telegram Notification
Once the text processing is complete, the workflow creates a brand-new Google Doc (Create Google Doc). It then executes sequential write actions to populate the file with both the concise summary (Insert Summary into Doc) and the full transcript (Insert Transcript into Doc). Finally, a notification containing execution status is delivered back to Telegram (Send Confirmation to Telegram).
